Lead Times & Order Changes

Below are some common questions about lead times & order changes.

What are your lead times?

Lead times vary depending on the strain and product type. Some strains can be fulfilled in under 4 weeks (business days), while others may require longer due to cultivation cycles and availability.

Lead times will be listed on each product page.

For more detailed information on our lead times, please click here.

Can I cancel my order if it hasn’t arrived within my expected timeframe?

Once a strain has been ordered in specifically for a customer, the order cannot be cancelled, even if the customer’s expected timeline has changed or the delivery has not yet been received within the lead time window. This is because stock is produced or reserved specifically against that order.

For clarity, lead times are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates.

Which courier do you use and how long does delivery take?

Orders are shipped using our standard courier service - Royal Mail or APC depending on the product. Delivery times depend on destination but are typically 1–3 working days within the UK once dispatched.

When do you place orders with Mycelia?

Orders for strains must typically be placed by 5pm on Wednesdays to be included in that week’s production run. Orders placed after this cut-off will be included in the following cycle.

This is especially important for rare or less frequently produced strains.

Will spawn be okay during transport delays?

Spawn is packaged to withstand standard transit conditions. Short delays are generally not expected to significantly affect viability; however, extended delays or exposure to extreme temperatures may impact performance.

Please contact us within 24 hours is you suspect an issue due to transport delays.

Product Questions

How much spawn do I need (litres/plugs)?

Order quantities depend on the substrate volume and growing method being used. General guidance is available, but requirements can vary depending on the application.

For specific guidance, please contact us.

Which substrate should I use?

Different products perform best with specific substrates. Guidance is available depending on the strain and cultivation method being used on each product page.

If you need more information, please contact us.

Do you have strains available for immediate dispatch?

Some strains are held in stock for quicker fulfilment and may be available for immediate ordering. These vary by product size (e.g. 1L, 5L, plugs) and are subject to availability at any given time.

A current list of regularly held stock strains can be provided as required.

Is your spawn gluten free?

This is currently under confirmation with our supplier. An official update will be provided once confirmed.

Do you provide growing advice?

Basic growing guidance is available via our tutorial resources.

Please refer to our YouTube or our online resources found in our Blog.

What is spawn made of, and how does it compare to liquid culture and plugs?

Spawn, liquid culture, and plug spawn differ in form and application:

  • Spawn is typically a grain based medium colonised by mycelium.
  • Liquid culture is a nutrient solution containing active mycelium in suspension.
  • Plug spawn consists of wooden dowels inoculated with mycelium for use in logs and similar substrates.

Storage Guidelines

How should spawn be stored and how long does it last?

Spawn should be stored in cool conditions to maintain viability. Typical storage temperature is refrigerated conditions (around 2–4°C), unless otherwise specified.

Some strains require specific storage at approximately 10°C. A list of these strains should be maintained internally for reference.

Storage duration varies by product type and strain; customers should use stock as soon as practical for best performance.
